MANTECA BULLETIN REPORTS ON THE EASE OF PHERESIS (platelet) DONATION (link)

Manteca, Calif. – December 13, 2009 –Manteca Bulletin, Managing Editor, Dennis Wyatt reported Sunday on his experiences donating platelets at Delta Blood Bank's Modesto Center. Apheresis is a blood collection process that utilizes automated technology which allows a donor to give specific blood components while the rest is safely returned to the donor. Because apheresis donations from male donors are typically safer, Delta Blood Bank collects platelets and plasma almost exclusively from male donors.

Stockton, Calif. – February 18, 2008 – As a result of declining blood donations in the weeks leading up to the holiday weekend, Delta Blood Bank will be keeping its doors open on Presidents’ Day, Monday, February 18. In the midst of the cold and flu season, many regular blood donors have been ill and unable to donate, especially those with types B-negative blood and O-negative blood.

Stockton, Calif. — December 2007 – In a proclamation from the Executive Department of the State of California, Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger declared January to be Volunteer Blood Donor Month. This public recognition of blood donation comes at a time when the need for blood, particularly types A-Negative, B-Negative, AB-Negative and O-Negative, is high. Delta Blood Bank officials anticipate donations to drop this weekend as the community prepares for approaching inclement weather.
